Perrysburg Chorale offers free holiday performance
PERRYSBURG - The Perrysburg Symphony Chorale will present a free Holiday Cheer Concert at St. Rose Catholic Church, 214 E. Front St. Saturday  at 7:30 p.m.
The program includes holiday favorites and a sing-along. Pieces to be performed include "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "White Christmas," "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "Do You Hear What I Hear."
A visit from Santa Claus is expected.

Owens band staging benefit holiday show
The Owens Community College Concert band will present a holiday benefit concert Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the Fine and Performing Arts Center, off Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.
A free will offering will be collected to assist St. Paul's Community Center of Toledo.
The band, conducted by William "Fred" Dais, will perform a variety of holiday favorites including Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride."
The program will also include: traditional Christmas carols; "Hanukkah, A Festival of Lights"; music Alan Anthony Silvestri from the movie "The Polar Express"; and "Toy Trumpet."
Also, local favorite Ragtime Rick will narrate "Twas the Night Before Christmas." He'll also perform while the freewill is being collected.  

Soprano presents recital 'My Christmas Story'
Soprano Fidelia Esther Darmahkasih will present a senior recital "My Christmas Story" Saturday  at 7 p.m. in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Drive, Bowling Green.
The Bowling Green State University student selected music that expresses the season including Exsultate, jubilate by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with a small ensemble of strings and winds conducted by Brady Meyer.
She will be accompanied throughout by Jeff Manchur on piano and organ and will be joined by tenor Dustin Hill on "O how amiable are thy dwellings" by John Rutter and Michael Kasinger on oboe for selections from a cantata by J.S. Bach.
Also on the program will be  pieces by  Ludwig Von Beethoven, Franz Joseph Haydn,  William Fischer and David Sandstrom.
Darmahkasih, a winner of this year's Dr. Marjorie Conrad Song Competition on campus, studies with Christopher Scholl.

Local singers part of "Messiah" tradition
TOLEDO - The Toledo Symphony Orchestra joined by soloists including tenor Richard Mathey, of Bowling Green, and the Toledo Choral Society and BGSU choruses will perform Handel's "Messiah" Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle.
Other soloists  are mezzo-soprano Katherine Calcamuggio, soprano Cheryl Babb  and baritone Kevin Foos.
This is the fifth year that the Toledo Symphony has presented "Messiah" in partnership with the Toledo Choral Society and BGSU. "Messiah" has been performed in the community for more than 90 years.
Richard Napierala, director of the Choral Society, will conduct.
