Navy band to commemorate Battle of Lake Erie
PERRYSBURG - The Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble will commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie fought during the War of 1812 with a free Labor Day concert at Commodore Park at the intersection of Indiana and Louisiana Avenues Monday at 1 p.m. No tickets are required.
"Pride in Service" has been the theme for Navy Band Great Lakes for more than 102 years. -
Homeported on board Naval Station Great Lakes, Navy Band Great Lakes performs more than 500 times each year throughout a nine-state area of the United States.
Dubbed, "America's Band," by President Woodrow Wilson, Navy Band Great Lakes annually entertains more than 60 million people as the United States Navy's, "Ambassadors to the Midwest."
Sutter honors artists
The winners of the Sutter Art Award at this year's Wood County Fair were:
• Marcie Reynolds, $120 prize.
• Heather Grunder, $50 prize.
• Kara Glore, $40 prize
• Isaac Smith, $30 prize.
Nine Lives Band closes market concert series
PERRYSBURG - Nine Lives Band concludes the Music At the Market series tonight at 7 on the Commodore Schoolyard lawn on the corner of Louisiana and Indiana.
In case of rain the show moves into the Commodore Building, 140 E. Indiana Ave.
Nine Lives is a five member cover band that plays all genres of music spanning 1950-today. They've been dubbed" the live jukebox" because they have such an extensive song list.
Power jazz 3 at Robinwood
TOLEDO - The French jazz power trio Jean Louis will perform Friday at 9 p.m. at the Robinwood Concerthouse, 2564 Robinwood Ave.
The trio offers a frenzied mix of noise, kraut, industrial and jazzcore.
Performers are Aymeric Avice, trumpet, Joachim Florent, double bass, and Francesco Pastacaldi, drums.

PRIZM seeking entries for art show for veterans
PRIZM Creative Community is seeking artists and writers for its first Veteran's Art Exhibition of Northwest Ohio, called "Salute to Freedom." The two month exhibit will be on display during November into early January at the Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg.
The exhibit is open to all honorably discharged veterans of any era or branch of service in any media or genre of visual or literary art. The show is also open to entries from family members of veterans and/or deceased veterans. These entries may honor the veteran or be entries of their works or that of the late veteran.
Entry fee is $10. Deadline to enter is Oct. 15.
