BGSU's Tim Cloeter assumes reins of Masterworks Chorale
TOLEDO - The Masterworks Chorale will begin the 2013-14 season with a new conductor and artistic director. Tim Cloeter, an assistant professor of choral activities at Bowling Green State University, will take over the direction of the Chorale in addition to his university duties.
Cloeter is in his fifth year at BGSU where he conducts the Collegiate Chorale and Men's Chorus and teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting and chorale literature courses.
"I have been very interested in the opportunity to conduct outside of academia, where my relationship with the singers could last more than the four years an undergraduate student might be with me," Cloeter said. "In addition, working with musicians who are fully adults certainly has benefits, one of which is that we all can have a deeper and more nuanced understanding of the poetry we are attempting to illuminate and convey in our performing.
"My work as artistic director of the Masterworks Chorale complements my work at BGSU, allows me to serve my community, and brings visibility to the University on a regional level. "

WBGU-TV producing new documentary, Made In America: Lima Locomotive

WBGU-TV seeking support for film on Lima Locomotive
WBGU-TV is seeking input and support for the production of its new documentary on the Lima Locomotive Works.
The film, directed and produced by Tom Zapiecki, will look at the history and culture surrounding the manufacture of  locomotives from the 1870s to the 1950s. The company was best known for producing the "Shay" geared logging steam locomotive, and for being  the home of William E. Woodard's "Super Power" advanced steam locomotive  concept.
Lima Locomotive Works saw decades of success until a final merger in 1951 with Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton saw the discontinuation of diesels. Some of these  engines are still in use around the world today.
The film is scheduled to debut this fall.
Those wishing to be a part of  bringing this story to the screen should call 1-888-892-0010 or visit http://www.wbgu.org/supportlimalocomtive.
