Roots music featured in Rhythm on the River
GRAND RAPIDS - Matthew Keeler and Blues Reveler will perform a Rhythm on the River Arts Series concert Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Wright Pavilion on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street. The series is sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society.
Matt Keeler started playing a mixture of Pre-WW II blues and spirituals in the mid-1990's, but has since broadened his repertoire to include other styles, such as ragtime, Irish traditional music, hokum, early American popular music, and Appalachian fiddle tunes. The Ohio-based band, Blues Reveler, is his homage to American Roots music. Many iconic instruments are featured: washtub bass, bones, hurdy gurdy, washboard, and miscellaneous debris.

The band features Bowling Green musicians Michael Peslikis, piano, and Bob Manley, saxophones and flute, with Tom Ritter, bass, and Jim Seiblod, drums.
