Auditions set for talent show in Perrysburg PERRYSBURG - Downtown Perrysburg Inc. and Next Stage Studios will present a First Friday Talent show Aug. 3 in the downtown, with auditions for acts to be held later this month. The theme for the First Friday is "Summer is Hot, School is Cool". This event will feature activities centered on education, schools, and area students. The talent show will be hosted by Next Stage Studios from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. and will consist of 30 acts of singing, dancing, acting, comedy, juggling, gymnastics, poetry-reading and more. Auditions for the talent show will take place Monday from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m., and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This talent show is open to all applicants entering grades 3 through 12. Those interested must sign up for a time by Saturday and cannot attend an audition without signing-up first. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Curtain opens at Huron Playhouse HURON - The Huron Playhouse will open its summer season with the musical "Bye Bye Birdie," running June 26 through June 30. Curtain time is 8 p.m. for all shows. Also scheduled are: • Ken Ludwig's tribute to the screwball comedies of the 1930s and 1940s, "The Fox on the Fairway," July 3 through July 7. • "The Drowsy Chaperone - A Musical Within a Comedy," July 10 through July 14. • "Greater Tuna," July 17 through July 21. • Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel, July 24 - July 28. 'Wizard' will open Playshop season WATERVILLE - The Waterville Playshop announced the productions for its upcoming season recently at the troupe's 60th Annual Meeting. Scheduled for next season are: • "The Wizard of Oz" to be directed by Inge Kloping, November 2-4 • "Lend Me a Tenor" will be directed by John Oster and performed February 8-10 • "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" with Sam Macera directing May 3-5.  All performances will be at the Maumee Indoor Theatre. "This is Your Life, Waterville Playshop" was the theme for the meeting, which capped the troupe's anniversary season. Ken and Pat Dickey along with Sam and Jan Macera were given special recognition for their contributions over the years with Playshop.  Scholarship winners were Gabi Shook and Katie Momenee. The 2012 Spirit Award winner was John Oster and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Gary Buerk. Polka dinner, dance on tap The Czech Dancers Polka Club will hold dance and dinner Sunday at the Czech Hall, at the intersection of Ohio 120 and 109. Food and refreshments will be served from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and cost $8. Dancing to the music of the Frank Moravcik Band from Cleveland will be from 2 to 6 p.m. . Admission is $8.
