Regional art exhibit accepting¬† submissions
Art is now being accepted for the NoWOH 6 open art exhibit at the galleries of the Bowling Green State University Fine Arts Center.
The deadline for submitting work online is June 15. Information is available at www.NoWOHartSHOW.org.
The show is open to artists age 16 and older from Wood and Lucas and 10 other neighboring Northwest Ohio counties.
Artists may submit up to three pieces of art . Entry fee is $30 for artists 19 and older, and $15 for younger exhibitor. Those who volunteer can have their entry fee reduced.
The art needs to be dropped off June 15 from 11 a.m. to¬† 3 p.m. ¬†
Prizes of $1,400 including a $500 grand prize will be awarded.
The show will be on display June 21 through July 12 with an opening reception and award ceremony June 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.
'Joseph' tickets on sale
PERRYSBURG - Tickets for the Perrysburg Musical Theatre's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will be on sale¬† at Perrysburg High School June 13, 18 and 19¬† from 6:30 to 8 p.m. ¬†
The musical, directed by Clark Ausloos with musical direction by Michael Kadin Craig, will be staged at the school June 20 through 23.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Remaining tickets will also be on sale an hour before every performance.
Players elect new officers,
honors casts, crews & backers
The Black Swamp Players elected officers and handed out awards at the troupe's recent annual meeting.
Dennis East, of Perrysburg, will serve as president with: Deb Shaffer, Bowling Green, vice-president; Becky Hansen, Bowling Green, treasurer; and Melissa Kidder, Findlay, secretary. ¬†
First time trustees¬† Anderson Lee, Heidi Hakel and Emily Walters will join returning board members Bob Marzola, Tom Milbrodt and Willard Misfeldt.
The organization's Friend of BSP award went to Bob and Pat Maurer of Bowling Green for their support of a production this past season. The Richard Lenhart Award went to the Pike family - Mark, Brenda, Danielle, and Alyssa - of Bowling Green for their outstanding service to BSP. Haliey Clifford, a student at Bowling Green High School, received the Richard Shellhammer Award recognizing technical support by a¬† young person to the Players.
Outgoing president, Leroy Morgan, Findlay, presented several President's Outstanding awards to: Alisha Jean Bond and Michael Barlos for musical performances; Willard Misfeldt for the set of "Enchanted April"; the cast of "A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody" for¬† costumes; Kaleigh Buckley and Bob Marzola for supporting actress and actor; and Deb Shaffer and Guy Zimmerman for leading actress and actor.
Valentine casting 'Mousetrap'
TOLEDO - The Valentine Theatre is casting a 60th anniversary staging of Agatha Christie's classic "The Mousetrap."
Auditions will be at the Valentine Theatre Studio A at 410 Adams St., June 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Directed by Elizabeth Cottle, show dates are weekends¬† from Oct. 4-13 and Oct. 25-27.
Multiple copies of the play are available through Toledo and Wood County library systems.¬† Those auditioning should be prepared to read scenes. Actors will receive a stipend.¬¨‚Ä†
Experimental music on tap
TOLEDO - New England avant-garde electronics experimentalist Jason Lescalleet and Detroit percussionist Ben Hall will perform Sunday at 9 p.m. at the Robinwood Concert House, 2564 Robinwood Ave.
Lescalleet mixes noise and contemporary composition, and Hall studied with Milford Graves and performed with a number of avant garde notables including Bill Dixon.
Donations will be accepted.
Lori Lefevre to sing by the river
TOLEDO - The Lori Lefevre Trio will perform¬† a Jazz on the Maumee concert Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N Summit St.¬† Cover charge is $15, $10 for members of the Art Tatum Jazz Society and¬† $5 for students.
