Freeze Frame opens in BGFreeze Frame, an exhibit of work by five local
photographers opens today with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at art-a-site!, 116 S.

11.Barbershop singers take listeners to ballgameThe Commanders Of Harmony Barbershop
Chorus will celebrate the opening of baseball’s spring training with "Take Me Out
to The Ballgame" concerts in Pemberville March 3 and Grand Rapids March 4.The
barbershop chorus, directed by Gordon Ward, and several quartets will perform a variety
of tunes.The performances will be:• At the Pemberville Opera House, Saturday, March 3

Harlem Renaissance"Of Ebony Embers: Vignettes of the Harlem Renaissance" will
be presented by the Core Ensemble Friday at 8 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in Owens
Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Oregon Road, Perrysburg
Township.Presented in conjunction with the College’s celebration of Black History
Month, Core Ensemble’s presentation of will feature actor Chris White portraying
multiple characters while interacting with the onstage trio of cello, percussion and
piano.Poets highlighted will be Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen and Claude McKay.
"Of Ebony Embers" will also feature musical works by Duke Ellington and
Charles Mingus as well as others.Since its inception in 1993, Core Ensemble has

women in transition out of homelessness.The Almeda St. Poets – Michael Hackney, Michael

Butler, Andrew Michael Field, and Matt Sradeja.The Almeda St. Poets began as a
collective of poets living in the Toledo area who regularly met to share each other’s
work in one member’s Almeda St. home in west Toledo.The members soon regularly could be

recording sessionsThe Silverbacks will wind up its February run of shows Saturday from
8 to 10:30 p.m. at Grounds For Thought, 174 S. Main St., Bowling Green.Vocalist Flo
Metzger is expected to join the band – John Johnson, bass, Bob Manley, saxophones and
flute, Michael Peslikis, electric piano, and Bob Rex, drums – on a few numbers. The band
plays classic American songs and jazz standards.The Saturday night sessions have been
recorded for a future record release on Grounds for Thought Records.West End venue
hosts experimental music showTOLEDO – A concert of experimental music featuring Ben
Bennett and Joel Roberts will be presented March 1 at 9 p.m. the Roinwood Concerthouse,
2564 Robinwod Ave., in the city’s histori West End.Ben Bennett plays an evolving pile
of often home-made instruments, which includes tuned drum heads, frame-drums, rubber
stretched across a hoop, rubber by itself, sheet metal, and wind instruments with reeds
made from drum heads. Joel Roberts, who performs as goLab, uses analog synthesizers,
drum machines, theremin and GameBoy to create somewhat unconventional synth-pop.
