ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Closing arguments are expected Monday in the trial of a man accused in the fatal
shooting of Eastern Michigan University football player Demarius Reed.
Twenty-one-year-old Ed Thomas of Detroit faces open murder and robbery charges in the Oct. 18 death of
the 20-year-old from Chicago’s South Side.
Kristopher Pratt last week pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. The 20-year-old from Detroit admits he
shot Reed in the body and head.
Pratt testified Thursday that he and Thomas followed Reed. Pratt says Thomas took Reed’s iPhone and
wallet before the shooting.
Lorne Brown, a lawyer representing Thomas, earlier told jurors that Pratt’s testimony was "bought
and paid for."
Carl Reed told The Ann Arbor News (http://bit.ly/1nAMi37 ) Thursday that the jury has enough information
"to make the right decision" about his son’s slaying.
