Agent for Browns’ Hoyer confident contract coming

CLEVELAND (AP) — The agent for Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer is confident he will get a contract
extension for his client during the upcoming season.
Agent Joe Linta said he has had a "couple of friendly conversations" with the Browns about
Hoyer, who will enter training camp as the starter but will have to fight off rookie Johnny Manziel to
keep the job. Hoyer is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next March.
Linta, though, believes the sides will come to an agreement "as the season moves forward."
Hoyer went 3-0 as a starter last season before suffering a knee injury and undergoing surgery. He was
limited in mini-camp, but he’s expected to be full go when training camp opens on July 26.
First-year Browns coach Mike Pettine said Hoyer has the lead in the quarterback competition.
