CONYERS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia State Patrol officials say a baby and a teenage passenger have been killed in an early morning street racing crash on a highway outside of Atlanta.
Authorities say the baby's mother was racing her Honda accord on Interstate 20 Friday near Conyers, about 25 miles east of Atlanta, and lost control of the car. The car hit a guardrail and was eventually hit by a pickup truck.
Officials say the woman's 7-month-old baby and a 19-year-old passenger were killed. State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says the driver of the other car in the race has been identified and will be interviewed. Passengers in the pickup truck were also injured.
Authorities say the fatal crash caused another accident nearby when a driver who tried slowing down because of the crash was rear-ended.
