ATLANTA (AP) — A national atheist group says it will place its literature in cabins and lodges in Georgia's state parks after the governor's recent decision to allow Bibles in them.
American Atheists President David Silverman says his group is just waiting for an answer from the state on what the best process is to donate several books, including one titled "Why I Am An Atheist."
Georgia parks workers recently removed Gideon Bibles from the cabins after an atheist complained. Gov. Nathan Deal last week overturned the decision and ordered the Bibles put back, arguing that since the state didn't pay for them, it can't be seen as endorsing them.
He also noted that any religious group can donate literature.
