V. Florence (Hardy) Miner (92) died January 26, 2012, in Wood Haven Health Care Center.
She was born September 16, 1919, to Henry Mark and Ola DeEtta (Shettel) Hardy in Williams Center, Ohio.

Following graduation from Swanton High School Florence attended a business school. After marriage she
worked with the 4-H movement as an advisor for over 12 years.
She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, and excellent cook. She was equally at home serving a dinner
for two or for 200, as she prepared many meals at the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green of
which she was a member.
Florence was active in the Rebekah Lodge receiving the Decoration of Chivalry, one of the highest
commendations. As an active member she held all elective and appointive offices in the local Oriana
Lodge #774 and in 1986 was elected President of the Ohio Rebekah Assembly, I.O.O.F.
In early 1960 Florence traveled to Nigeria, West Africa to support her husband who set up
handicraft/trade centers in the Eastern Region of that country. During this tour she worked with
missionaries supporting and encouraging their work.
In recent years she has been confined to a wheelchair following a stroke. Her granddaughter summed up the
situation in her 2010 blog: "We lost a little bit of her personality at that time, as she became
more forthright. However, her love of family, her sense of humor and her ability to tell a story
remained."
She is survived by son C. Robert Miner (Beverly) of Bowling Green, a sister Kathryn Schwake of Oak
Harbor, and brother, Walter Hardy of Maumee. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kirk Miner of
Columbus, and Rev. Kathleen Kisner of Cincinnati, two great-grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Kisner,
and future great-granddaughter Lila Ann Kisner will be left behind.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Dean Miner, formerly of Tontogany and Bowling Green,
her parents, brother, Clarence Hardy, and nephew Eugene Hardy. Many nieces and nephews and their
families have been touched by Florence’s life.
