H. Harland Hale

Harold Harland Hale, age 83, of Pemberville, OH and Sarasota, FL passed away on Thursday, October 20,
2011at St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH.
Harland was born on February 21, 1928 in Galena, OH to Harold and Florence (Gudakunst) Hale. He married
Doris ( Tomlinson ) Hale on March 17, 1951 in Columbus, OH.
Harold was a proud Ohio State University graduate and played in the OSU Marching Band. He and his family
moved to Pemberville in 1955 and truly loved the community.
He was a food chemist for 35 years with Owens Illinois, Toledo, OH.
Harland proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy.
His memberships included: First United Presbyterian Church, Freedom American Legion Post #183, Historical
Society and Civic Club all of Pemberville, OH as well as the Wood County OSU Band Alumni. Harland was
instrumental in planning and building the Pemberville Community Pool and was on the original Board of
Directors of Portage-Valley Retirement Village.
Harland is survived by his wife of 60 years; Doris, children: Karen (Dan) Brown of Rockvale, TN, Harland
(Janet) Worthington, OH, Warren (Ann) Hale of Perrysburg, OH, Mary (Dave) Hayward of Tampa, FL, seven
grandchildren, brothers: Glenn (Donna) Hale, Forrest (Marilyn) Hale and sister-in-law: Dorothy Souders
all of Galena, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Howard Hale.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from Noon
until 1 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH, where funeral services
will be conducted on Saturday immediately following visitation. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Miller.
Private interment will be in Pemberville Cemetery, Pemberville, OH.
Considerations for memorial contributions are: First United Presbyterian Church or Pemberville Public
Library.
